Awards & Bursaries
Banting has a number of potential awards and bursaries that are presented to deserving students at Commencement of their graduating year. These may be based upon highest mark in a course, leadership, citizenship, extra-curricular activities, volunteer activities, post-secondary destinations and course of study, and/or special circumstances. Some are awards students may apply for, while others are based on grades and/or teacher recommendations.
All graduating students are welcome to apply online for any of the awards listed below. In addition, students may also apply to the external awards, that require an individual application for each award.
INTERNAL AWARDS:
Graduates, if you are interested in being considered for any of the awards or bursaries listed below, click here to apply online. Awards range in value from $300.00 to $1,500.00.
Please note that staff members may also nominate deserving students.
The Banting Commencement Committee meets to determine our award winners from all applications received by the application deadline.

Canadian Tire Bursary
John Wray Memorial Bursary
- Presented to two students who will be proceeding to post-secondary education (apprenticeship, college or university) in a technical field and have played an active role in both the school and the community.
Wilmer Palmer Memorial Citizenship Award Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 329, Tottenham
- A graduating student from the Tottenham area who has demonstrated outstanding citizenship and service.
Alliston District Sportsman Club Award
- To a graduating student who is pursuing post-secondary studies in the field of environmental, wildlife and natural resource sciences, conservation, forestry, sustainability, aquaculture or natural resources law enforcement.
Financial Need Awards:
Royal LePage RCR Award
- To a student in significant need who demonstrates probity, citizenship, academic success and is attending a post-secondary program
- Awarded to one male and one female.
Lions Club Award
- A deserving graduate who is going on to college and would benefit from additional financial assistance. (Please be specific as to why you are in financial need.)
Lions Club Award
- A deserving graduate who is going on to university and would benefit from additional financial assistance. (Please be specific as to why you are in financial need.)
Cheryl J Walsh Foundation Award
- To a student who demonstrates significant financial need and is attending a post secondary institution next year.
Canadian Tire Bursary
- To a deserving student in financial need attending any post secondary school.
John Wray Memorial Bursary
- To a deserving student(s) in financial need attending a post secondary program.
